I've just bought the notebook Acer aspire 5742g. It's a good one but there is a problem, I don't know how to stop the WiFi autostart ? I really need to cancel it as it would make the battery short life, if I kept forgetting to turn it off manually through launch manager every time i log on to windows 7

I'd be grateful, if someone helped me.

Use Launch Manager v5.0.6, download here, then turn WiFi off and restart. The next time you boot, WiFi will not start anymore until you manually turn it on again.

No. The last state is stored in the registry and restored after a reboot.
Apart from that - properly configured, modern WLAN chips aren't that battery consuming. 1000 MBit LAN is worse.

well you can do an easy trick which I use since I connect to the internet over 3G modem...

Press Windows key + x.That will open Mobility center and there disable wlan through "Turn off WLAN" option... It will stay that way as long as you don`t put it backwards even if you shut-down/restart you machine...

    Cheers

P.S. @michael_recycled - Thanks for "LAN" tip I will definitely have that in mind...
