    Hi,

I searched and searched, but couldn't find an answer. My wife dropped her Extensa 4620z. It's working fine, but it broke the pin inside the yellow power connector jack. If I could get to it, I could epoxy the pin in place and perhaps solder the jack to the mobo. But, I can't get the freaking thing open! I removed all the screws and removed the lower panel, but I have no idea how to get the laptop open. Any help on how to disassemble the laptop would be appreciated.

I wonder if I would be better off letting Acer do this...

I guess it would depend on how you define better. Your warranty, if you still have one, would still be intact, but you'll now have a large hole in your wallet. I'm not super familiar with Acer's, so no help there.

I havnt repaired any of the 4000 series but if the pin broke ogg you will need to carefully start removing screws and cover plates, once your into the unit you will need to unsolder the existing power connector and solder in a new one. yo can't epoxy the pin back in as it is a sealed jack.

Hopefully someone on the forums has dissasembled one of those units and can help you more

Update: so I found some disassembly instructions online and decided I was in over my head trying to disassemble it. I contacted Acer and they wanted $449 (!) for the repair. I'm going to try a place I found online that specializes in repairing power jacks. Will report back when it's done.

they is alot screw to do it can be done if you take you time keep track of where you everything go

I suggest you find a local shop or eletronic place to do

you can problay order replacement jack

some model have usb broad with power connection might be better option replace whole power broad

my guess that model has broad with usb port on it and power connector winch can be replace no soldernig need

you problay look at at least 150 buck for some to rip down and repair it
