Hi guys, I did this mistake, formatted my HD and lost de PQSERVICE partition, but I can recovery ussing a program offers by ACER
I create a step-by-step how-to-do for anyone can resolve this problem.

    1) Go to http://www.acerpanam.com/
    2) Choice your country
    3) In Drivers & Downloads clic in more...
    4) Select your product (in my case was Aspire 5000)
    5) In the end of list have a file name "Post Acer Disk Formatter CD ISO Image"
    6) Download this file, burn a CD-ROM with it.
    7) Put in CD-ROM drive on Acer PC and press F2, and change to star using CD-ROM.
    8) Only use Next-Next-Next.... and this program wil create the PQSERVICE partition
    9) Next put yours recovers factory CD/DVD and return to the zero mark.

Ps: I´m brasilian and my english is very bad, so sorry. But I hope that this can help someone.

Yeah, sure would like to know if it's that easy. Lots of folks would benefit from this if it works.

Just checked; the support site list for my Acer 5920 includes the cryptically termed "Post Acer Disk Formatter CD ISO Image".

cleitongt, how did you come across this?

    I'm not sure I understand.

This only works if you you already have a factory recovery CD/DVD? If you're computer doesn't come with one, does it work with a burned DVD you made from erecovery?

    Thanks.

i could be way off base here,,, but my understanding of the "Post Acer Disk Formatter CD ISO Image" is that it will re-establish the factory formatting structure,,,

but i can't see such a small image file holding all the gigs of data that the PQSERVICE partition holds,, how can one CD hold the data that takes 3 DVDs to back up??

just my stab at common sense and logic,

I successfully rebuilt pqservice partition and now I can recover my system using ALT+F10.
We can rebuild hidden partition from original dvds or we can put into pqservice system made by us with all drivers, programms etc. I can write a tutorial how to rebuild pqservice partition if you like.

This forum its full of people with energy , who wish to learn the ACER secrets .

What they do are to learn by their own failures , realizing in the end .. that rebuilding the PQSERVICE from DVDs its not possible .

Still its interesting to see those people trying .

So be my guest, and try ones more .

OK, I'll post the tutorial how to do it. It works on my Acer Extensa (pqservice was deleted/formated) but I think it does on most models.

Can somebody update this steps? because when you go to the given link, it will take you to Acer USA support site, there's no option to choose your country because USA is already the open site, unless you go to the global list. Then in the drivers and downloads section, there's nothing that says "More" and the next steps were nowhere to be found. :(

I'm actually curious what position I'm in.

I have an acer 5920g with the recovery partions still intact as they came with the laptop. However I once tried to return to factory install using alt+f10 but it asked me for a password.

The default password of 00000 did not work because I think I set up an acer esucrity just to test it out, but I never used it and forgot the password.

So should I just delete the parittion and get some extra space? Or is it worth keeping?
