I recently had some trouble with my Acer Aspire 5920 notebook. A virus got through to it (luckily without any major damage).
I sent the notebook repairs and I already got it back and working...almost...completely as new.
I wanted to format the notebook and reinstall the necessary programs. This way I can get rid of all the stuff I don't need/want.
The problem is that eRecovery from the eEmpowerment tools needs a password to start the formatting. Normally if you don't fill in a password in the first place then there's no password needed when you want to format the system.
In my case, the notebook asks for the password anyway so my question is this:
How can I format my notebook (using eRecovery or another application) without the password?

You could probably use DBAN or active kill disk. Burn a ISO, boot from the disk, and have it wipe your HDD. That would wipe everything though.

Default password is six zero's. Type it in and try.

Hi, use whatever OS you wish to install to format the hard drive...

The default password of six did not work.
I'm gonna take a look at kiriakost's link -
Warning: Keep in mind that since the default password doesn't work you CANNOT ask how you can bypass the current one. I will keep monitoring the thread and as soon it goes in that direction(no matter if you or other member goes that way) I'll close it down. NBR forum rules does NOT allow the discussion about how to bypass security measures.
