Got a 7720G the other day I want to do a fresh install of Vista as if I'd just bought the OS from a shop. However, there's no disks that came with the laptop, and the e-recovery backup disk I made doesn't appear to have any version of Vista on it that I can slipstream using vLite (Vista version of nLite)

Is there anything I can do so I can just format and install Vista without all that ****ty software that gets bundled with it? I've got the CD Key on the back of the laptop, as well as a different one that was found by Magic Jelly Bean.

I'm aware I can just download Vista and technically this would be legally okay if the CD Key is valid for the version, however I'd prefer not to do that. What can I do to extract the core Vista setup from the backup stuff Acer placed on the hidden partition?

Also, as another question. My sound is messed up. I can't play anything for more than 20 seconds without the sound just playing pure distortion. Is it a case of sending it back, or is there some sort of software tweaking I need to do?

Suggest you buy vista dvd from microsoft... media only no license as you already have key. Costs less than $10.

Use internal key that acer used or from bottom of laptop but then gotta call MSFT to activate.

Don't think you can extract core from acer version as it is an image.

I managed to extract XP from an image on my old Acer, though. I'm trying to work out what's so different about this scenario. :/
