I would assume that a Base System Device would probably be Smart Card Reader/Card Reader/PCMCIA slot etc.

For the graphics (VGA) driver you can download directly from the producer site (NVIDIA - ATI).

I have bought a 7720G yesterday, and I will install XP in next days. I have get all driver, and I will test soon :) My only doubt is about recognize harddisk during installation.
A question: how did you solve the required installation driver for sata ahci for windows xp?

I also bought a 7720G and discovered to my horror that almost none of my software would run on vista. So I decided to dualboot (Vista + XP). Anyway, all I'm missing now is the driver for my graphics card (for XP). The graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce 8400GS M. I'm still searching...

OB1KOB: Before you install XP switch your SATA setting from AHCI to IDE. After that you may need to reinstall/repair your Vista bootlog (if dualbooting). If you you get the message 'hal.dll is missing or corrupt' then fix the boot.ini file. Good luck.

Sorry, that was a bit unclear: The missing boot.ini file would be for XP. However, it will go on your Vista drive, if that is your primary drive. In my case, Vista was pre-install on C and D was empty. XP is now on D but the boot.ini file along with the ntldr file is in the root of the C drive.

GREAT NEWS: I finally found a driver for my graphics card!!! Hurrah!!! It turns out to be some derivative of a desktop graphics card driver that has been modified by some very boffiny people. Anyway here's the kicker: It seems to work pretty well across the board ie I have an Acer Aspire 7720G with a Nvidia GeForce 8400GS graphics card and a colleague of mine has a Toshiba thingie with a Nvidia Geforce 7700 graphics card and it worked perfectly on both our machines. I wish I knew how to share it with you guys out there as it seems many of you are in the same predicament as me. Ideas?

If you have an HDDVD or Blu-ray drive the modify drivers for the VGA might make them not work anymore with Acer arcade, not sure about the other HD players out there.

P.S. Does anyone have a service manual for the 7720 series? Please.
