over the past 5 months, my Acer extensa 4420 has been more and more difficult to power on. The power switch seems to be failing, and it even got to the point where i had signed it off as broken, and dismantled it for parts.

Last night, i put it back together, out of boredom, after sitting in a box for 3 months, and it worked, but once again, it seems to have a faulty power switch.

I can only get it to start if i rapidly press the power button, further degrading it, and it only works half the time.

I know how to jump a desktop computer, by fooling the motherboard by shorting it's power switch pins. However, on a laptop, the power switch is part of the motherboard, and really can't be removed and it's leads accessed...

    Any help?

Well I looked at your post, but I have no clue. Why don't you buy a spare part? Look at the productnumber in your service manual. Just buy a used one, saves money ;-)
