Hi, just trying to get my webcam to record video for me, but there's only the option to snap photos.
This seems to be a fairly popular problem with Acer Crystal Eye Webcams, and google says some people have gotten it to work on other Acer models, but the typical solution doesn't work. That typical solution being
c: --> windows --> suyin --> livecam.exe
That folder isn't there on the 6930.
Any ideas?

Hi, can't you use the crystal eye webcam software itself, works for me ok, what exactly is the error messages you are getting?...
Chris -
There's not an error- there's just not a button on the interface for taking video. Here's a screenshot of my Acer crystal eye program with the pic blanked out-

Just a button for snapshot, trashing selected photos, resolution, and some useless settings. How does it work on yours? -
Is this relevant? I was pratting around yesterday on my AS 2920, trying to install drivers for some of the old webcams I have here, and that I use taped to the back of the 4x4 when coupling up to boat trailers.
Having got a couple working, I started looking at this strange Acer Arcade software that came with the machine and discovered that the DV Wizard let me select any of the 3 cameras (including the Acer Crystal Eye) and then moving the cursor on the screen brought up a small record/play/stop control.
This seems to work well. What I now need to find is how to manage the files it produces. There is little to show which directory they are put in, although a search on the filename finds them. I'm not sure whether it's OK to just delete them from that directory or whether this will leave all sorts of old indexes and other junk inside the Arcade app or in the registry. I searched all the other bits of Arcade, but couldn't find any straightforward "Delete unwanted files" function. -

That screen shot looks like the one I get. My machine has a Bison camera, and I had to fiddle with files in the C:\Windows\BisonC07 (is that a 0 or an O?) directory, not a suyin directory, to find the app. But see the earlier post

Hi, if it is any help this is my screen shot:

I have a new 4630Z. My Crystal Eye Cam page looks just like the OP's. No video button. I haven 't seen any Crystal Eye Software installed anywhere. Right now it only does still shots and there is virutally nothing in settings except brightness, sharpness, etc. Under the tab 'Camera Control's all the functions are grayed out and not accessible. It seems like it is missing software or something. The only driver in there is the Microsoft USB Video generic driver.
How do you tell if you have if you have Suyin or Bison?
