Got Acer 5920G with HD-DVD? No TV options in Media Center?

    Issue:

Acer Arcade Vista MC Plugin disables TV functionality.

    Resolution

    #1 Uninstall Acer Arcade

    OR

    #2 Registery Fix

    Goto Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Start Menu:

    Change "HideTV" value to 0

    Enjoy!

wow, no help on these forums when you have real issues (besides making noises, too hot, will it run games...)

Anyway, I figured it out how to enable TV and keep Acer Arcade pack running for HD-DVD playback. It was pretty simple registery fix.

Great Fix. Now why was TV disabled? There must be a reason.

Anyway, does anyone know if a media centre remote works with the built in infra-red received in this notebook? Do all the 5920G have infra red?

I recommend Gyration media center remote. It's a RF MC remote + mouse capability + you can program other IR devices

Btw, I Acer Acrade software is not very stable, it crashes sometimes for no apparent reason. Also, when I watch HD-DVD, pause it and resume, it messes up the playback. I got Cyberlink PowerDVD and it works a lot better.

How do i get into the registry in Vista... I don't see the run window... Or a place to type what would be needed to be typed to get in.

Also.. Just curious.... .Any reason why Acer had this feature turned off?
