Just looking for a guide on how to open the bottom casing of the 5920G.

The piece is a one big L-shaped like plastic. I've undone the 9 screws, but the case won't come off. The screws don't come out either. I think they're fixed in with washers or something.

Still, how do I get the case open?

    Thanks.

You've been robbed of 1GB of RAM? You mean you don't have 2GB, or did you order an extra 1GB? Does the system recognise 2?

I bought the 2GB 5920G, asked for an extra 2GB to be installed to max out the possible 4GB the machine can take.

Running Vista 32-bit, I'm told I should expect it to show a 3.5GB in the properties. It shows 3GB.

When removing the bottom faceplate to run a diag, I find two physical chips. One is a 1GB, and the other a 2GB.

Now I assume the machine came from the factory both slots with a 1GB chip each, and they've replaced one of the 1GB for a 2GB and either forgot about replacing the other or they decided to play a little dirty and keep my 2GB of memory.

Somebody screwed up if it wasn't intentional. No wonder the lappy wasn't running!

    Yes.

The actual reason I think now was one of the upgraded 2GB of Kingston RAM they had in. Thank God they screwed up here by robbing me of the other 2GB of Kingston RAM or the machine would've been seeing the bottom of a pit. (See my other topic.)
