    Hi All,

Unfortunately my seven week old son decided to vomit across my Acer 5920 laptop yesterday.

The laptop still boots but I can't login as some of the keys are stuck.

I've downloaded the service manual but I can't seem to be able to lift the keyboard off. There are four areas to prize open just below the speaker but I can't work out how to do it - do they push in or lift up?

Do I take out the tray it's sitting in or prize up each of the keys individually?

Any ideas on how to get this sorted?

    Thanks

I've done this myself but with great difficulty. Basically I got one of those really tiny screwdrivers and gently prized it up, but looking at the area where i put the screwdriver, it has made some marks, so it may be worth using something slightly bigger. They sort of lift up but you've got to use some force, but be gentle at the same time if you know what I mean.

Thanks, do you lift up the tray they are sitting in or the inividual keys?

To get the whole lot out you need to take the tray out, but you can take the individual keys out, this would be better if you need to clean between the keys. If you did take these out, you need to be very careful as the clips underneath are very fragile.

Ok, I've managed to remove the keyboard. Many thanks for your help.

Unfortunately I'm still getting the same problem - whenever I go to the login screen and type a button it looks at though it sticks - sometimes I just get a string of the same letter, other times nothing happens.

Any ideas how I might try and fix the issue?

I'd say you need to remove the offending keys, then give them a good clean (if you haven't already).

Underneath every key there is a small rubber nipple, it may be this is getting stuck, if not, then it maybe the contact underneath.
