Since yesterday I have a Travelmate 514TE with a non-working HDD. How do I place another HDD in this laptop. There is no information in the manual or on the website of Acer.

Does anyone known how to do so. Which staps to follow?

    Thanks allready.

On the bottom of the laptop, there are several panels that can be opened by unscrewing some small screws. The hard drive will be under one of them, and it's as simple as taking it out and putting a new one in.

The manual should have pictures of ur laptop showing where everything is. If u look close enough, it will show the underside of ur laptop and what each panel holds. The hdd is a simple enough upgrade, so any laptop manual will tell users where it is.

Thank you for your answer, but this is not the solution. On the bottom of the laptop are two panels: one for the memorycard and one for a modem (telephone). There is no panel for a HDD.

I found out that you can remove the keyboard. Under the keyboard there is a metal plate. I removed the trhee screws but cannot lift the metal plate. Underneat this plate I can see the HDD. I can unscrew the screws on the bottom but do not known how to separate the two halfs of the laptop without making damage.
