    Hello,

i have a Acer travelmate 4500 notebook (Travelmate 4502LCI) and a 19 inch Acer Lcd screen (AL1916) as external display

on the pricelist there was mention of "Up to QXGA (2048 x 1536pixel) resolution via external display."
    But I can't manage to get a higher resolution on my AL1916 screen then 1280 * 1024.

    I'm probably overlooking some settings.
How can i get a higher resolution on my al1916 external display.
I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how i can increase the display settings of my external settings

It's not the LCD's fault - your notebook is unable to fully use the potential of the LCD. Your notebook's resolution maxes out at whatever max resolution your video card + driver can deliver out through VGA.

I know that for my notebook, when I try doing any type of dual display, it won't go any where higher than the native resolution of the notebook even though it says it's something else.

But if I change the primary display to some other monitor. I can change it to a higher resolution, even up to 1920x1200 with the intel gma950.

It seems i can only get a higher resolution on my external display when i'm using [Edit] dual display clone. [/edit]
the "extended desktop" (don't know if this is a correct translation)

The max resolution is determined by the external monitor. That monitor only supports 1280x1024.

Let me give you an example: To get to 1900x1200, you are looking at buying at least a 24" monitor normally. If you want 2048x1536, Apple has a nice 30" that's about $3000 (yours is under $200).

    There's no false advertising here...

i think it has to do with the actual resolution of the external LCD unit itself. have u checked what the max resolution on that is?
