    Hi

I am getting a new hard drive, meaning Upgrading from 40gb to 120gb.

I was thinking how can i transfer all my files, and also keep the RECOVERY FUNCTION running? (ALT+F10)

    Please looking for help...

get yourself a drive backup utility such as norton ghost or acronis true image/disk director. i prefer using true image and disk director as it gives you more control over what you can do with the new drive but it can be a little daunting if you've never used it before.

well you'll need a partitioning tool that has adavnced options. you need to create a partition with the tool you choose and call it pqservice, you'll also need to format it with the FAT32 file format and set the drive type to a compaq setup partition. then you'll be able restore the backup image you have of that partition.

i believe there are other threads on thid forum which explain what you need to do to create a new pqservice partition.

If you use Ghost and backup the entire drive (rather than just partitions) and then restore you should be GTG.

But when i get the new hard drive, it will only be 1 partition, so i have to make 2 partitions? Or will the GHOST make the partition automatically for the restore drive?

I just want to be able to re-install windows, and also use ALT+F10....
