Its brand new, you booted it, used it once and then tried to restart the computer and now it won't work...
1. First question: What software did you install after the first (and only) boot?
2. Second question: You obviously did not try reformatting etc... straight away on your brand new lappie maybe....
A little clarity here will enable the Acer forum members to try and help you out

Im sure i did not install any new drivers that might effect the system.. other than those regular stuff like msn , opera and some songs.. and no i did not try to reformat or anything.. the last thing i could remember is that when i shut it down.. it was updating the system .. etc2 .. i was in a rush to bring my laptop out though.. so i just shut it down.. i guess there is my problem? any solution?

Go Alt+F10 at bootup. That will start system recovery.

And don't force a shutdown when the poor thing is trying to update fer cryin out loud.
It's a computer, not a toaster.
Once you've run the recovery utility, acquire two high-quality DVD's and burn the recovery discs. Then store them in a safe place, away from sunlight, humidity, etc.
That's just basic insurance that everyone should do right off the bat with a new laptop. -
I'm totally new with acer, okay so i did went to System recovery. Guidance to next step? Thanks teejay.

Follow the instructions and options given. I can't remember exactly what as I did it long ago (Acer, despite what bashers say are pretty reliable).
Wait for Hoggie, Evolution or another active forum member to help here.

I'm not an expert on this, but Alt+F10 during startup (in other words, before Windows begins to load) apparently starts the Acer Recovery utility. You can choose to recover from the recovery partition. The utility will wipe the Windows data and drivers and rebuild all of it. It does this by accessing the recovery partition on the HDD. All your personal data will be lost, which probly isn't a big deal with a new laptop.
The method described above relies on the viability of the recovery partition stored on your HDD. If that data gets damaged (virus, spyware, HDD mechanically failing, etc.) you're done.
That's why I suggested burning the recovery data to 2 hi-quality DVD's and treating those DVD's with care. The instructions for burning the DVD's are inside the Acer Recovery utility. It's a little confusing. You have to find the "Create Recovery Discs" option.
Burning those recovery DVD's was the first thing I did when I got my 5920 home.
Once you've burned the DVD's you can recover the system from those discs by checking BIOS to make sure it'll boot from optical drive, then hitting Alt+F10 during bootup and following the prompts.
EDIT: Do you have any friends who are Linux enthusiasts? Drop a LiveCD in the tray and see if it'll run. Check BIOS t see if it'll boot from optical drive of course. That's one way to see if the PC's hardware is still sound and it's just a Windows software problem. -
it seems now that i'm stuck without a DVD recovery.. bummer..

Have a little patience folks....Hoggie and Evo etc. will help when they get online.

I have a similiar problem, I tried to install XP Pro on a TM 2480 after reformating the hard drive I am sure that I lost all recovery tools. I installed XP and now it seems like it is freezing up on me and not responding. I tried to load the drivers for the keypad and it did not install them like it should. I tried to install XP Service P2 and it will not install.
Any suggestions,
Mark -
I think I solved my issue. I ran Process Explorer and found that my DPC's running at about 82% and making the machine run like sludge. I looked up issues with ACER laptops and high DPC's and found that the battery can cause issues. I pulled the battery out and it was running like a champ.

??? if it's just a couple days old exchange it... laptop without a battery?? thats stupid.

It can't be the battery's physical presence. Must be a bug of some kind in power management?
I can't go in windows
