I could use some help ensuring I do all this correctly.

    Hi guys,

My Acer Aspire 6930-6560 has finally arrived! W00t! I have decided I defintely want to Dual boot. So as we speak I am creating the back up disc's (currently on recover2). On my old laptop I am on acer's website downloading all of the vista drivers for my model. (except the finger print driver which i assume is for some fingerprint device i do not have)

After I am done I am going to write down all of the stuff in device manager and try and track down the xp drivers for everything.

I also have a copy of ultimate that I have never used so I was planning upgrading the vista home that it came with to ultimate, because A) i have the disc so why not, and B) it seems like a good way to get rid of bloatware.

Is there a way to back up all my drivers in home premium so my ultimate upgrade will go seamlessly? Am I making the right decision to upgade to ultimate? or should I just try to uninstall the bloatware and not bother with the upgrade.

Does any1 know of a quick way to get all the drivers I will need for XP?

For now my current plan of action is:
    1: Recovery Discs
    2: Create a Driver Disc
3: Repartition the drive 2 50gig and one 200gig partition
    4: Install Ultimate
    5: Find XP drivers
    6: Install XP

    Good Idea?

It might be better to install xp first then vista.

If you have problems booting into either once both are installed you will probably need to use of EasyBCD. This program allows you to change the Master Boot Record within vista.

Also, you may need to get some sata drivers and slipstream these into your xp disk as you may have issues with installing.

Help please. I cannot seem to get the laptop to recognize the cd-rom when i go into the bios and switch the cd rom to the first boot device. I also tried making the first boot usb thumb drive with the software on it.

the cd i am trying to use is an xp upgrade file that I downloaded from school and burned to disc.
