I again...
I have an Acer 5672WMLi-X1600 and i got 3 little questions that someone else might have too:
1 - Can i use a remote control to control my notebook usin the InfraRed port? How?
2 - Can i use the media buttons (vol+, vol-, play/pause, stop, next, prev) to control winamp? They are kind of useless otherwise...
3 - The X1600 has this hipermemory feature. It use 512MB of my System ram all the time. I want it to use 512MB only when im playin, and the rest of the time it should use its 128MB dedicated. How can i do that?
Thx in advance.
After i get some awnsers, it could be anexed to the How To's: Acer Aspire 5672 topic, by JohnnyT...![]()

As far as I know, this is not possible. I have been able to send files via IR but no remote is / was able to communicate with it.
Simple fix, you need to enable "global hot keys" unde the options menu in winamp. It works great for me
It has 128 dedicated, but it does not ALWAYS use 512MB. And quite frankly I've yet to see it use 512MB. It basically "uses it as it needs it". It doesn't use 128MB of video while in 2d and in 3d it bairly uses all off it.
Hope this helps

Well, you can control windows using ir. Although the site says the ir reciever should be connected to a serial port, you'll have to check if the stock laptop reciever will work. Since i havent used this before, or have no idea how it works you're going to have to find out for yourself.
go to http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/ to start off. -
Well, i use global keys, and i have the same config as you.
I did a clean install of windows. Maybe i missed some point? Didnt installed something? Didnt change something on the registry?
Hmm, so i think my windows is usin to much resource...
Thx for the info.
I knew WinLIRC already, but i stopped when i saw this: " Note that the parallel port hardware, IRDA ports, and Irman are not yet supported by WinLIRC."
The IR port on the Acer 5672 is IRDA right? -
it could be the version of winamp youare using.
I'm using an OLDER version, not sure
All I know is mine works and I did a fresh install of xp
