    Hi,
I have an Acer Aspire 3680-2682 notebook.
it does not have a firewire port.

I also have a Sony DCR VX2000 Camcorder. It uses Firewire.

    I found this:

VIA Laptop 2 Port IEEE-1394 Firewire PCMCIA CardBus card
    http://www.amazon.com/Laptop-IEEE-1394-F...

    Is this what I need?

Or does this laptop use PCMCIA or Express cards.

    Thank you!

Well, the 3680 has a PCMCIA adapter/slot, as indicated by Device Manager. Can't open the link, but you should go for a PCMCIA card with a 6-pin Firewire port, as that will supply power as well.
