    Hi

I have an Acer Aspire 3690 laptop running on Vista which has in-built microphone at the front. However when I try to set up my Speech Recognition and I read the text, it says 'The computer did not hear anything'. Is the microphone disabled and what do should I do about it.

    Many Thanks

Check the volume control. Maybe the mic is muted?

Go to the sound control panel and change the default recording device (there are normally two), if it is not there you probably don't have the appropriate audio drivers installed.

I have had the same problem..

To get anything to happen I basically have to speak directly into it...and its still crappy.

I put it down to mic insensitivity. Easy way out though.

Use an external mic. All's well then

    Cheers,
    Theo
