I have tried everything I can think of. I have installed the driver again and again. The ethernet adapter isn't in network connections (the lights on the back are on). I don't know how to get it to work. Can someone give some advice to get this to work. Thanks!

Have you checked all the connections? When in doubt disconnect and then put them back.

    Not familiar with the R1600

    Hardware switch on?
Press switches ? May need Acer Launch manager to work and therefore turn on wireless
