Hi !!!
Well i m about to upgrade my mb acer 5315 for a T8300 or T 7500, i have bios version 1.29. I check its release and since 1.21 it support cpu penryn...
But on the topic Acer 5315, it is recommended to update to version at least 1.31. Why? Is it important?
What can happend if i plug the new cpu with a old bios?
I m looking forward for responses, thanks !!!!!!!!!

Aspire 5315 has known issues like bad fan control, "cold boot" and such which is fixed in the newer versions(1.34 and above). If you're going to upgrade I suggest 1.43 - it's confirmed to be stable and with no issues(for now) with the old ones being fixed.
You're not obligated to update, the CPU should work with your current one. If the BIOS doesn't support it the laptop simply won't boot. Then you'll need to put the old CPU back, update the BIOS then install the new CPU and try again. -
If I were you I would update the BIOS first, that way you know it will work, just saves the risk of having to put the old CPU back in, then updating it, then putting the new one in. Saves a whole lot of hassle!!!

Ok I m going to try without bios update, since 1.29 should support a T8300... And I will post results soon!!!
Thanks again to both of you
