My laptop wont turn on at all, no lights at all. The power supply is fine, and I opened it up and found a few burnt capacitors. Ive searched on ebay for Aspire 3680 mobo but all have different model numbers to mine. My model number is DA0ZR1MB06D1 REV.D. Also on the RAM socket it has another number which is MBAZL060017090E53B2505 and below that it has 31ZR1MB00I0. I cannot find one on ebay with the same numbers as above. Will it make a difference if I get one which has a few numbers/letters which are different to my current one?

    I found this
    cgi.ebay.com.au/Acer-Aspire-3680-5570-mainboard-MB-AZL06-003_W0QQitemZ150234700762QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116
but the numbers on the socket are different to my one. Will it still work? (Sorry about the link. The board wont let me post a link as I have <15 posts. Just copy it into the address bar and the link should work.)

Is there any way to test whether the external power jack board which you attach the the motherboard in the pins, is damaged and causing no power to go to the mobo?

I am not sure. But if the notebook is not working on battery, then the fault will be in the mobo and not in the power board.

You can checkout a new power board from ebay, if the mobo is a bit expensive for you. I have a spare 3680 mobo as well, but it accepts only IDE HDDs.

Uhmm....No. It won't. The mobo is totally different, in terms of physical dimensions/connections/sockets.
