Hello! A few days ago I bought an Acer 6920G with the following specs:
Intel centrino duo T8300 2,4 GHz , 3mb L2 cache
Nvidia GeForce 9500m GS 512mb
4gb RAM
Windows Vista home premium 32 - bit
And I was quite excited. My previous computer was an Acer 5920G and it was a great computer. So when I upgraded my mother got the Acer 5920G. I decided to control how much the new 6920G could do. So I compared the FPS in BF2 with the 5920G. They had almost the same. In some situations the 5920G was 10 fps better and sometimes the 6920G was just a little more constant. It seemed a little wierd to me, since I was pretty sure that the 6920G would be at least 10 per cent better than the 5920G. So I ran 3dmark 06 on both computers. The result was astonishing.
Acer 5920G: 3756
Acer 6920G: 3254
The processor of the 6920G got: 2000 points and the processor of 5920G got: 1800. But the graphic card of the 5920G performed a lot better then.
The 5920G has the following specs:
Intel centrino duo T7500
Nvidia GeForce 8600m GT
2gb RAM
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit.
And today I read two reviews on the internet about Acer 6920G where they got 4100 in 3dmark 06, with the same kind of computer but with a worse CPU (T8100).
What is the problem? Ive tried with so many different drivers. But none of them seem to work though.
Please help!

Could be a driver difference, could be the Acer performance plan (make sure you're on AC Power and High Performance), could be background processes, could be any number of things.
Also, make sure that you're running 3DMark at the same resolution on both laptops - otherwise, you're not getting an objective score. -
9500M GS is a 8600M GT with the die shrunk. So, it's kind of normal. The 6920G system is powerful at overall, but on the 3D part... they are almost the same.

btw u tried OC the card yet? try and get the best performance for the card, as i quite easily OC from 475/400/950 to 625/450/ 1250 which is the 8700m GT clock speed. Note that 8700m gt is actually a 8600m GT OC'ed. Let us know how high did u go, and good luck~

Thanks for your answers guys! Yeah, I always make sure Im connected to the power net and with the High Performance power plan. The computer is newly installed. Actually tried with quitting some background processes and making the desktop resolution 1200 x 800 (native: 1900 x 1080), but it didn't help quite much.
Ive got the free edition of 3dmark, so I have no options. But I noticed one difference. On the 6920 the resolution in 3dmark was 1200 x 1000 and on the 5920 it was 1200 x 800. But that is a small difference and I presume it shouldn't affect the score that much.
Yeah. But the 6920 is as well a more good looking computer. It has a really good screen for being a laptop and the screen isn't wiggling while typing like on the 5920.
TehSuigi what score do you get in 3dmark with your 6920?
No I haven't tried to OC the card yet. I want everything to work as it should before I do that. But I just need to know: how will and OC affect the lifetime of the card? Is the cooling - system in a laptop sufficient for OC'ing without risking an accident?
And btw, how to find threads like this one on this forum? it took the hell of a time for me to find it again, after scrolling and searching for at least 20 minuteshaha.

I got 3618, but I didn't note the resolution.
-
can u modify the resolution in the free version of 3dmark06? i dont seem to be able to
-
You have to change your screen resolution in Windows to affect 3DMark06 Free Version, I think.
-
Yeah, as Ive said. I did change the resolution in windows, but that didn't do anything.
