I have been looking for the bluetooth drivers for my Acer Extensa 4420-5910 for a week with no luck. I believe they are Broadcom drivers but I am not sure. None of the drivers on Acer's website work. Broadcom's download page is also down. Driverguide does not appear to have them either. Acer doesn't have a "Parts List" for this laptop so they cannot tell me exactly what bluetooth drivers I will need, and unfortunately I am not about to crack a new laptop open to find out. At the minimum if someone could just tell me what the name of the correct driver is I would be satisfied. This is for 32-bit Vista. Thanks!

Are you sure you have bluetooth installed? Just because you have the button doesn't mean your PC actually comes with it. My Aspire 7720 has the button but I would have to buy the cable and Bluetooth card and install it myself before I would be able to load the drivers.

I thought that it was integrated into the system. The light would come on prior to me formatting the drive. You are probably right though. After looking at the website I bought it at it doesn't say anything about coming with it. Thanks for a quick reply!

I just reinstalled xp on the 4420 for someone at work. It also did not come with Bluebooth... even though there was a toggle switch.

    hope this helps.

You know now that I am pretty sure that is the case, I am even more upset with Acer's technical support. Seriously, how hard would it be to inform me that it probably didn't come with it. One top of that when I told them that I installed Vista 64-bit they told me I had voided the warranty on my laptop. Seriously, what is the point of having a 64-bit processor and 4GB of RAM when 32-bit Windows can only address 3GB?? Sorry about the rant, and I appreciate your help.

don't blame acer for your gripes.... they will support what they shipped with, that's not their fault.

Same goes for most cars as well (if you modify the suspension / transmission / engine / it's not under warranty.

Same goes for Windows OS.... don't mean anything is WRONG with it... just means they don't have to help you.

    To SSX4life,

I totally disagree with you. Your analogy about modifying cars, may apply to changing hardware, but not software.

Manufacturers should NOT void warranty just because you install a new operating system or other applications. In contrast with hardware, you can always reinstall the original software and it will be just as good as new. Plus, why would you buy a computer, if you can't really customize it to your needs or to perform better?

I just got an Extensa 4420-5910, read the user's guide, and it is very ambiguous about the Bluetooth and other things. I even tried searching in Acer site for more information, but the product isn't even listed.

There is no excuse for mediocrity.

    To Converge81,

The warranty says that Acer is not responsible for the loss of data or any software, but the laptop's hardware warranty continues. If you made a recovery disk, you should be fine.

In my case, the seller told me about the computer not having Bluetooth, and recommended a USB Bluetooth adapter. Some are as small as a small coin, and you can just leave it connected, because they don't stick out of the computer:

    Hope this helps, ;)
