I have an Aspire 9520 (not a big hit when it came to sales) but is similar to the others.

It is a Vista Notebook and had BIOS 1.16 on it.
Given that VISTA is like "t_i_t_s" on a bull I have XP as a dual boot.
I recently upgraded to the most recent and last BIOS version 1.18.
I was using Vista for a while.

Today I tried to boot XP and get the BSOD with stop: 0x0000007B (0xBACCF524, 0xC0000034......

I understand that this means a problem with "SATA Native Support" or "SATA ACHI Support"....only problem is the BIOS does not have this option.

Can anyone guess if ACER BIOS could have automatically enabled this from my 1.16 to 1.18?

or is there anyway to turn it off?

Can I downgrade my BIOS back to the old version?

    Thanks in advance guys.
