I did a disc clean-up of the "D" drive and now it is totally empty.... What the heck did i just remove... My 5920G wouldn't start afterwards... It was acting really messed up... Just got her to start twice now after 4-hours.

Is there any way to get new "D" drive backup files made.... As the "D" drive is now showing empty. There are Zero files in it.

On my 5920G the D drive is just a separate partition to store files. Perhaps you damaged other stuff on the hard drive as well.
Did you say that everything is fine again after 4 hours?
Edit: There shouldn't be anything important in the D drive. Just found that I just stores the backup files for Acer erecovery.

Bro Vista have bug.Normally we select everything to clean by Disk cleaner, but problem is if we select delete error reports option sometimes vista delete all system files tooo...So after you shut down the system it will never start again

I have experience about that error :D

If you want a fresh windows install then knowing acers there should be a hidden partition called pqservice which will allow you to recover your notebook to factory spec. All you have to do is hit ALT+F10 at the post screen and then follow the instructions. I am of course assuming you didn't delete this partition! Also this will only recover windows on drive "c" it will not touch drive "d" which is the data partition.

As for recovering the lost files on the "d" drive you could try and find one of those file recovery programs and see how much of the files are still intact and if they can be recovered. Whatever you do, don't format that "d" partition otherwise you will make file recovery much harder.

    i only use the D drive(which is only a partition)for mp3s pic's and genral storage.
so when i do a recovery (Alt+F10)D: is left alone and C:is nice and clean. which is handy as you can burn so many disk's it gets silly :)

EDIT: i also have all my updates stored on D: so i don't have to go hunting for them all over again.which is bit of a grind.

I never tried that (Alt + F10) does it erase all prior settings and files to a earlier time? ...or just change what you want... Whats the differance in useing that method over windows restore points?

yes. you do get the option to exit without changing anything.
hit Alt+F10 at the splash screen.

if you still have eRocovery loaded you can use Alt+F10 when in windows to burn an image of the recovery partition which is bootable. like a copy of an OS disk :)

you also get the option to burn all the third party software as well, empowering tek stuff.nortans, power dvd and all that junk. :(

i did a test with the image i burnt to DVD and it installed xp and it left the recovery partition alone. which was the big worry.

it takes the C: partion back to factory default. so you have a fresh install of the OS.and if you saved all your drivers to D: partion (acerdata) there safe :D

    here's my experience:

I tried compressing my C drive which houses Vista. It compressed MBR and never booted. I tried all means but vista thinks it fixed mbr with bootrec/ fixmbr n all the jazz! but I had to reinstall the whole stuff .
