Well, after 1100 posts with no notebook on NBR, i have finally decided to contribute a review to the community. I will make it very thorough, and will cover lots of benchmarks. You can request some here if ya like. I havent recieved it yet, will be on THursday.

EDIT: Im trying to find my camera, might have to resort to online images for the review. Or ill use my Nokia...

I hope you give some detail on the quality of the LCD display, spotted a 8920g on display in a store today... not sure if there's a different LCD display on the 8930g.

    Thanks.

    Just registered!!

Was waiting for someone to do something like this!

I'm living in Italy, and I'm about to buy one of these really nice and powerful 8930, and precisely the one with the P8600.

It should be just one step behind the top one, but in this way I'm saving 200€ :p

One thing I still can't seem to understand: is there a combo usb/e-sata port?
Many sites say that there are only 4 Usb ports and no e-sata.

    Thx for your answer!

Just to know, what is the exact name of the model you own?
Is it with one HDD or 2 HDD?

The one I'm interested in is ACER AS8930G-864G64BN, with P8600, 2x320GB hdd, 4 Gb DDR3, 9700GT, B-R disc and tv-tuner, and I've found it as low as 1500€.

Can't wait to read some reviews and get my "paws" on it!!!

When you get around to your review could you mention if it's WUXGA or not and wither you notice any light leak at bottom when playing a DVD or Blu-ray in fades to black or very dark scenes?

Sadly all the 8920/8930 I have seen on display in stores were only XGA.

    Thanks.

Ima getting the same model, except a T9400 instead of the P8600. Does yours have Vista Ultimate?

    @laptodd, will do.

The one I'm interested (not yet mine, unfortunately) has WV Premium, not the Ultimate...

I'm going for the one just a tad less powerfull because I would have to pay 200€ more to get the top one (which is the one you're receiving), and the only differences would be the processor (t9400 instead of p8600) and WV Ultimate instead of WV premium.

And since 1500€ is already a bit over my initial budget (I was trying to find something in the 1000-1300€ range, but heck, when I saw the 8930 I really was bewitched), I really can't afford to pay those 200€ more.

    ohh Australia. ****NNN

    Im in los anageles.

I love the Numpad. I spent the time ogling over the keyboard while trying to make it work before I figured out it was defective. :( now I gotz to wait for my new one to arrive.\

I also had fun playing with the Cinedash. I feel like just being a geek and imagining that Im on the Enterprise and Picard is ordering my to turn on the volume :D hehe

Wow, The lights are awesome, just wish they had a backlighted keyboard. one annoying thing, i keep hitting 4 or 7 instead of backspace, which brings me back to the front of my sentence..

oh well, ill get used to it! :D

    Already found it...

I thought it was in the "Notebook Reviews" tab of this site, while instead it was in the Notebook Reviews and News of the forum...

    My bad.
