Win 7 is a bit strange. I wonder why people think it's better than vista when things like this happen?

Windows7 is essentially Windows Vista with a service pack update. There are some nice changes over Vista, like; the Recycle Bin cannot be accidentally deleted anymore when you right click on it, the 'shutdown' button is revised in place of 'lock', more taskbar options as to minimize icon clutter. Couple things I didn't like was the 'show desktop' button being moved all the way to the right end by the clock and the 'cascade' view is somehow gone. I'm sure MS will gradually improve the product by ways of releasing the latest service packs.

For "cascade" just use the Windows Key & Tab :)

It runs a lot faster than Vista from what I've seen. Probably has a lot better control when it comes to usage of memory.
