I remember when I first brought my Acer home and turned it on that the frint switch for Bluetooth worked and the little lite came on. I didn't have any Bluetooth enabled devices and didn't think I would be getting any anytime soon so I removed or updated something which I think took out the Bluetooth.
Well it's about 4 months later and I just had my cell phone replaced and my new one has Bluetooth, I'd like to use this feature now but wouldn't you know it I can't restore the Bluetooth functionality to my Acer.
Stupid me for disabling it in the first place I know.
I downloaded th Bluetooth application/driver from Acer's site and ran the install but at the end it says there is no Bluetoth device. I tried using the Acer eRecovery software just to reinstall thr Bluetooth and go the same result so now I'm stumped. I'm starting to think I'll have to restore everything back to as it was when I first bought it and then reinstall everything again.
I have the Acer TM4202WLMi that CompUSA was selling, core duo, 1Gb Ram
Any help would be appreciated.![]()

i think you can go into bios and turn it on. i may be wrong, though.

Go to Start ---> Control Pannel ---> System (in clasic view) ---> Hardware ---> Device manager.
And find the Bluetooth module there and make sure its enabled or if there are any Yellow question marks install the drivers for it. -
Thanks for the suggestions, Bluetooth doesn't show up in my Device Manager anymore so when I install the Bluetooth application and drivers from Acer it comes up with No Device. I should have written down what I did when I disabled it so I could undo it but this time I was lazy. I have tried to reenable it through the BIOS but it just beeps at me when I try to make any changes, even though I am logging in with the correct password.
I have this weird feeling I altered the BIOS through Windows but the Acer software doesn't have any options like that as far as I can see so I think I will just have to bite the bullet and restore my laptop. This brings up another question I have... I did burn the recovery DVD so I have that but if I just want to put it back to the way it was whenI first bought it should I just rely on the hidden partition? I'd hate to use the DVD and find out at the end that there was something wrong with it and have my laptop messed up. Also, I have converted both partitions from Fat32 to NTFS, will that cause the recovery software any issues or does it just wipe it out and restore it back to Fat32?
I'll keep searching tthe forums for the answers I need but any help would be appreciated.
Thanks -
i have the exact same problem on a TM 4064wlmi... but i dont have a recovery cd
so if u fibgured it out how to reinstall bluetooth tell me
thx -
You know what I was able to use the recovery partition but I'm still getting a message that there is no Bluetooth or 3G device installed. Device Manager in Windows doesn't show any Hardware issues and in the BIOS there is nothing.
I have this sinking feeling that I used some kind of BIOS editor to disable something but now I can't find any software to undo it. If I ever figure it out I'll let you know.
I've lost Bluetooth on my Travelmate 4202
