I dont understand how to get the IR receiver to work, I installed the software from the acer site and it was a small exe. after i double clicked it, it did something quick then told me to reboot so I did. I dont see any program installed or anything new in the device manager.
How do I get this to work? does it work for anything or only a certain program?
Do I have to use a specific remote? I am hoping to get this working with winamp.

I have an extensa 4420 win xp pro

the program you downloaded are the drivers for the IR. You basically have to get a media center remote for it to work.

You can use a remote for an XBOX 360, but you need to do a little tweaking for it to work.

Is there any program that can read or tell me that this thing is reciving ir commands?
Do you have any recommendation as to a remote I just need play/pause stop next previous and volume controls. I like those ones like they have on the ipod speaker dock thingy, the small ones.
I was looking at some and they all came with a receiver, I was hoping to find one without it, hopefully it would be cheaper.

    THanks
