Hey guys, I have a Ferrari 4002 and I want to build my own remote controller for the rig, mostly for me media player. I am in 4th year of electrical engineering, so I know a fair bit about what I need to do to make the remote. The only thing I'm stumped on, is writing an application to retrieve IR signals from the IR port. I can probably write the application once I know how exactly to get a piece of software to interface with the IR port (even on a bit-wise level is fine). Any ideas? Thanks!

Use Bluetooth. The guy who wrote Salling Clicker figured it out with BT-enable cell phones as the remote.

The IR port is not CE grade - you need to be pretty close to it.
