I bought an Acer 5730 at Christmas. It's great, but has one annoying problem that I can't solve. I have lots of icons on the desktop arranged as I would like them, however when I plug in the projector (to do a Powerpoint presentation) the icons on the desktop become very large and slightly out of focus and all get moved around. When I unplug the projector the icons go back to their original size, but have all shifted from their original positions.

What is going on? How can I fix this? It's tricky, because once I plug in the projector in it's hard to find the icon for the PPT presentation, which is kind of embarrassing in front of 30 people!

The projector most likely is set to a lower resolution than your desktop native resolution and hence the larger icons.

Windows will shift around your icons when you switch resolutions so they will fit all within the screen. Its annoying but I know no way of disabling it.

You may be able to fix this problem by changing the resolution of your projector to match your laptops or vice versa.
