If I install my own Windows Disc onto my laptop will I be able to download the software that lets you use the quick launch buttons and the wireless activation button at the front??
Also I notice there are some laptop specific options in the Windows that came with the laptop, such as the options of "what to do when I close the lid of my laptop" ones. Do I need a special laptop edition of Windows XP or does it automatically detect that this is a laptop??
Another thing I notice is when the processor is not doing much the speed it is running at lowers (Right click my computer --> properties). Will this do it automatically or again is this part of some Acer software on the laptop??
Any help greatly appreciated as I have Windows XP Pro and my laptop uses home, plus I would not have the Acer bloatware and would not need to have the drive formatted into two paritions (I only keep it like this incase I need to restore it to how it was).
Oh almost forgot....Can I get all the sound, wireless, Lan drivers etc aswell?

If you install your own Windows Disc, you'll have to have the OS specific drivers handy to allow for the quick launch buttons. (Acer driver site)
Yes, it will automatically detect that it is a notebook, although this is almost transparent. All editions of XP except starters support notebooks.
The lower speed of the processor is by the power saving feature of the processor, which clocks down when it is on battery power/idle. Intel uses SpeedStep, while AMD uses PowerNow!.
All the drivers can be found at http://acer.com.sg/support/drivers.asp (i am unable to access the international Acer page due to network difficulties)
If I install my own copy of Windows...
