what he is trying to say is that there is that the fresh install does not pertain to a single model of hardware. True if your laptop has a raid setup you will need to intergrate the raid drivers with F6 on a reinstall of xp, but that should be common knowledge by now.

You will need the following things to reinstall xp.

#1. An origional copy of xp home / pro oem media
    #2. A USB floppy drive
#3. A pre-made floppy with the correct raid drivers
#4. That's just about it ;) Just make sure to make a backup disk of your operating system, and also don't forget to you can image your windows install with acronis true image 7 for FREE so please do it and you won't shoot yourself in the foot. It's free, it's failsafe, and it's relyable.

PRH was not trying to be overly smart, but we have had alot of people not use that function lately. I would say we get 1-2 threads a week here on how to convert FAT32 to NTFS, or how to reinstall XP :( .

    Anyway, enjoy

yes I understand all of that with raid and F6, but I probably should be more specific....there has been talk that even when you do all this there are problems with the 9810 model specifically. anyone have any news on that?
