My gf has the Acer Aspire V15 Intel Core i7-5500U and has recently got in to video editing. I appreciate this isn't ideal for that but we can't afford a new laptop at the moment so I'm looking for ways of increasing the performance of her current set up.

Is it easy to add additional RAM? If so, what should I be looking for?
Any other ways I can increase performance? External graphics card, for example?

    Thanks!

Additional RAM would only help if you are running out of RAM you have.
CPU can't be upgraded if I'm not mistaken - and that seems to be the limiting factor here.
External GPU is most likely not a viable solution either - you can head over here and read up on it but I don't see it working.
