I am looking for a 14" XGA PM730, 512 MB RAM, 60GB HDD, 64 MB RAM video, DVD Dual Layer, light but solid, for professional use (Office, C, Matlab, some graphics, Wi-Fi), with battery-life > 3,5 hours.
Acer TM 3200 seems a great notebook.
I dont't know anything about Acer.
I need a solid and durable notebook.
I have read that TM3200 has only 2 USB and both performance and battery-life aren't esceptional, if compared to Dell Latitude D610 or IBM T72 or Toshiba Tecra M3.

Someone has got the notebook can confirm this?
    Other problems? Pros?

    Thanks.

sadly, those facts are true, but i reckon they make up for it in its portablilty, i take my my tm3200 to school everyday, and the weight is perfect, also stick some more ram into it, and its a smooth and fast laptop. the only i hav problems with is the rubber grip stands under the laptop, i lost them?!

    What about battery-life?
It's true it lasts 3 hours and a half in normal use? (with PM725 and a graphic card)?
And what about the solidity of the chassis itself?

I have the 3201xci, and its perfect, way more portable than my inspiron9100. Its pretty light compared to most laptops, but feels heavy when you have it in a backpack. I think its pretty rigid.
I don't have problems with the usb ports. I have a belkin usb hub, so everything goes in there.
Matlab runs well on it, office runs fine, but acrobat is a little slow for some reason. I may have turned off that quickstart thing they have.
The batt life is a little disappointing, but I've found out that no matter how long I'm planning on using it, bringing the ac adapter is a must. Besides the ac adapter is tiny. The 9100 ac adapter is the size of a desktop power supply.
The only real complaint I have is the heat issue. If you use it noramally its fine, but when I play guild wars the palm rests start to warm up. This tends to make me sweat, and thats not good.

The rubber grips, do come off. If you have the laptop on a rough sticky surface and push it the feet will twist off. I've found o-rings from mcmaster carr that work wonders. They are the perfect size, and don't come off as easy. If you need some I could get some o-rings to you. I've got a bag of 200.
