well guys, as my acer 3050 no longer resembles what it was when I bough it, for I have upgraded my processor to a Turion tl-52 and increased ram quantity to 2gb, I need some helping hand...
I have been experiencing some instability issues but just can't duplicate when or how the hangs, blue screens or turn-offs happen, so, what should I do to test the hardware? what do you think can be causing this erratic behaviour? sometimes happens when I shift from one aplication to another and sometimes out of nowhere so I am a lot lost here...
BTW, running XP sp2 using the newest drivers and windows updates, using rmclock to undervolt to 9.5 at 1.6 and 7.5 at 0.8.
Well, thanks a lot for your time!

okay, found out how the hangs happen...
whenever I use multi-task to its maximum it gives me blue screens... sny idea?

This is pretty obvious...you undervolted your cpu, and everytime you stress it to its maximum it crashes. What does that say? You undervolted way to much and the cpu doesn't have enough power when stressed. So up your voltage and see what happens.

I have the same cpu and it's 0.825v at 800MHz and find that it's unstable sometimes. So you have a much less voltage than mine.

It's like saying "I broke my leg, and now I can't seem to be able to run well anymore. Everytime I try to run really really fast, it hurts and I can't go." Duh, your leg is broken. Fix it first.

as strange as it may seems, the default voltage at 800MHz is 0.8v, so why the instability when running at 0.825v?

My default voltage at 800MHz was .850.

I have the TL-50 cpu, which is the Trinidad core vs. your Taylor core. So maybe that's where the difference came from.

Maybe... anyway, even with stock voltage at 800MHz some inssues still happen.
Could it be some RAM malfunction? I just can't figure it out myself...

Have you tried taking out the new RAM, or switching slots?

Does this happen only when on battery, or even when plugged in?

If it's just on battery, than you can eliminate the too much undervolted problem because you said it does the same at stock volt. You should test your ram with memtest86+.

If it also happens on AC, then once again maybe you undervolted too much (0.95 from 1.075 is a good drop) and your problems match up with undervolting instability perfectly.

not yet, but as I said before, I cant reproduce exactly when the hangs occur... at first glance, I though it was whenever I used many programs at once but it just happended once this way and no more.
as I cant make hangs happen, switching slots could only prove so much without knowing where and how to focus my efforts.
and then again, all test programs run ok, such as orthos, wprime, 3dmark2001 and memtest...
see why I am so lost?

Belive me, I'm with you on that. I've had system instability with mine since I got it. It sucks to be working on something in class and have the computer crash. So far, it's random for me, but at least it's rare and only when running on battery.

I suspect it might be the gpu drivers, but too lazy to change them, and lately i has been good.

But since you think I undervolted it too much, I think I will try to raise voltage a little. Undervolting the cpu gives me at least 10º less, so it is worth it... even with this instability issue that I hope to solve!

May be your RAM are not compatible to your other hardware ,OR you have two 1GB rams ,don't you ? If so , Your both rams must keep compatible ,you 'd better use the same brand of RAM modules, if you can't get the same brand , please try Apacer or kingston ,which are the well-compatible brand!

Ram modules are same brand and after some ram tests they show stability...
what makes me wonder is that after 12 hours of stability test under everest, no signal of problems occured...

How long have you used your current system since your last installing of windows?
It seems that your hardwares have no problems ,reinstall the system should please you !

that idea has been lurking arround the edges of my mind but I keep resisting it... so much trouble doing a backup and I always forget something, anyway, thanks for your time and patience with me!
