Install Acer 4820T Applications ON an Acer 4810T

Thought it could be a new thread here to see what's working on an Acer 4810T with the dedicated Acer Applications & Drivers from The New TIMELINE X series, and since Acer does not update the 4810T, since the new TimelineX is out by now!

So far i have tested and are working stable are from the 3811T & 3820T, 4820T, 5820T series & some Travelmate series for Win 7 x64:

There's a working good one v3.0.03 existing from Acer Support Service and dedicated for the 4810T series (could be also the Aspire 4920G or so), for those lucky serviced like me that had it installed around early 2011.
This v3.0.03 (Wistron) from Acer Support will allow the update to Launch Manager v3.0.07 (Inventec) from the 3811TZG series (but looks like this will not work directly from the v3.0.02 (Wistron) to v3.0.07 (Inventec)). Wistron & Inventec are the same settings.

DVDRAM FIRMWARE: (unmodded) Optical Drive "GU10N" Only (2010/10/25)

CAUTION please!
Updating your Optical Drive "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GU10N" might reset all your settings. Therefore you'll have to reinstall "Acer Launch Manager" v3.0.02 or v3.0.03 & verify the settings of your drive in the Device Manager and W.M.Player...
Make sure the "Acer Optical Power Management" is working either by switching the graphics to battery.

You can grab the last firmware at The rpc1.org under LG/HLDS/Goldstar: (Scroll the list to GU10N,) Driver is: MX05-01.

This will download the GU10N_MX05-01.zip.
Unzip the downloaded file, copy/move to the .exe only to C:\ and run as administrator the .exe.
Rebooting will reinstall the Optical Drive Pilote, verify in the device manager all went fine, then manage your settings. Registry should be updated itself.

NEWS...:

APPS & DRIVERS FROM THE 3811TZG Series for THE 4810TZG Series...

WORKING:
1) After a while i owned my new machine, it happens i tested some ACER VGA ATI Graphics from the Acer Aspire Timeline 3811TZG series listed on their site.

As the Specs & Size are exactly the same as the 4810TZG, i did install the x64 - VGA ATI Pilote v8.653.2.

Everything went fine even after multiple reboots and updated the WEI score. The switchable graphics works as usual with the Intel GMA Mobile Driver...but looks Acer stayed at version v8.15.10.1872 for most of the files for the Intel GMA part.

As a reminder the last 4810TZG is the version of x64 VGA ATI Pilote v8.652.1

TESTING ACTUALLY:

-PowerSmart Manager Acer PowerSmart Manager Application v4.07.3010, WORKING FINE!

Looks working fine, no issue...switchable graphics works as usual & Optical PM trigger normaly
So far, no battery issue....

-TouchPad Synaptics TouchPad Pilote v14.0.6... UPDATE WORKING FINE!

NOT TESTED YET:

-LaunchManager Acer Launch Manager Application v3.0.07 & v3.0.05 (Looks a lot of issue during install)

4810TZG actual x64 Version is v3.0.02

 

For Synaptics Driver just grab the latest 15X ones from HP.
For Camera you have to find which device is in your system.

 

I'll have a look at HP site....

For the Acer 3811TZG Synaptics Driver, they do looks the same version as for the 4820T, and i did encountered some issue with the last one..

My camera is an Acer Chicony one, and Acer newest drivers won't work properly.

I use Chicony too quality sucks compared to SuYin
For touchpad driver just use the 15.X

The 1.7 V install some bloated software and runs itself on startup something I hate programs to do.
Synaptics Driver from HP

 

Version 1.1.124.1120 work fine, looks a little more better frame rate at 680x400..is the 1280x800 frame rate is the same as 720p one from v1.1.92.624 Acer site?

 

I don't know my webcam is a cheapskate low resolution chicony.

So i understand that those HP drivers are made for the Synaptics Multi-Gesture TouchPad as the provided from Acer specs?!?

 

All new Synaptics Touchpad are made equal.
Don't worry they all work.
There is no difference.
In fact you will find the 15.X driver more responsive and better I don't know why is Acer making us download the 14.x.

What I don't understand:
Why are options like
- "disable touchpad if external pointing device is detected"
- "right + left button clicked = middle click"
not available?

I have these options with the Dell customised Synaptics driver of my Vostro 1500, so this should be possible somehow.

Yes you have to mod the installer .inf because the feature available is base off what the .inf defines.
You need to find out which entry is modified.
Anyway for Acer it is disabled because they felt it has a tp disable button and they don't expect lots of middle click users anyway.

 

Can you please post a screenshot of the .inf modded?


PS: So far, all drivers i did applyed here still works fine and are stable...

Good News...

The Acer Synaptics Multi-Gestures Driver v14.0.6 Win7 x32-x64 for the 3810TZG series works perfect on an Acer 4810TZG, on Acer Site.

As reminder the actual 4810TZG version of the driver x32-x64 is the 13.2.2...

So do I..! The advanced settings are the same as previous version...but as always with drivers...never entirely know if you don't have the log change at install.

This version include the XP x32-x64, Vista x32-x64 and 7 x32-x64....that's why it is a huge download.

I have acer 4820 came with win 7 home but I purchased win 7 ultimate.
If I install that is it possible to install only software from my recovery cds. notebook didnt come with cds but I burnt recovery partition in 3 dvds. has anyone done it?

so you simply want to upgrade from the preinstalled Win7 Home to Win7 Ultimate you bought?

Not sure if this works, but you might simply try the "Anytime Upgrade" which is buried somewhere in the Start menu.

If you want the drivers and software that came preinstalled, please re-check the options of the eRecovery software. It should give you an option to burn a "drivers&apps" disc also.

yes, it has indeed. I didnt recognize that before. Thanks. But then It is very easy to accomplish that with another win 7 version. I just didnt get it why people had that many problem on other posts they mentioned. ok, i will give a try.

 

I done a "Windows Anytime Upgrade" a month after i bought it and everything went very smooth on my system. All the Acer "Apps & Drivers" stayed safe during the upgrade process.

I did aswell before this upgrade the DVD's to restore and in case the Dvd dedicated for all the "Apps & Drivers" Acer provided with the machine.

What the others could have mentionned, is the upgrade from "Vista to Windows 7"...

Looks from Windows 7 to Windows 7 is far better & easy!

I have az Acer 4810TG, and I want the newest ATI driver to install. I found that driver from 3811, but it is only two month newer than the original one. The original contains catalyst 09/08 and the 3811 comes with catalyst 09/10.
ATI released the catalyst 10/06 and above with Flash HD video support. It is neccessary, because in my notebook can be found only a single core SU3500, and it is not tough enough for the 720p / 1080p flash videos.

Sorry: this support can be reach from catalyst 09/11! So, i need a little newer driver. Only one month!

 

From Acer site by now only the ATI v653.2 from the Acer 3811TZG works fine with both switchable graphics without messing around with Intel's one (it doesn't update the intel v1872 one by the way!). I have test some from different Acer brands and all are messing the switching ability.

I think you still can update the latest catalyst drivers but you will loose the ability of switching from battery to wired powered in automatic mode unless your choosing in the Bios option to remove "switchable" graphics to "discrete".

If you're using HDCP compliant remove before the install, the folder "ATI HDMI" from the extracted new Ati drivers folder...

I know, it is a little bit of a mess to update the ATI Drivers!


AND STILL NOTHING NEW FROM ACER SITE......NO NEW APPS & DRIVERS for the 4810TZG from any other Timeline & TimelineX series!

I set the BIOS to "discrate", and I installed the 10.8 mobility catalyst. It works fine, and Youtube HD is working great (SU3500!!)
