    Hi,

    My Acer 3624WXMi has one bank with 512MB memory. CPU-Z tells me it's DDR2-400 PC3200 CL-3 memory.

Can I install a 512MB module of DDR@-533 PC4200 CL-3 memory in the spare bank? Would it automacitally run 'slower' to match the existing memory? Would they still be considered a 'Dual' setup?

No. PC4200 is DDR2. You need DDR memory, PC3200. If you install DDR2 memory in your system you may damage it. Just buy a good brand DDR (not DDR2) module such as Corsair, Crucial or Kingston.

My installed memory is DDR2 PC3200.. I know I can install a DDR2 PC3200 in the empty slot, but my question is can i install DDR2 PC4200 instead and would it just run slower in tandem with my existing RAM

I would think you would be able to run the faster ram in the second slot. As you mentioned, it would be down clocked to match the stick in the first slot. As for your other question, they wouldn't be dual channel. The specs would have to match from my understanding to run dual channel.
