    Hi guys.

I just bought a Acer Aspire 5740DG and I want to reformat it and put a clean version of Windows 7 on it without all the useless that comes on these laptops.

Is it possible for me to do this using another Windows 7 install disk I have, but just entering the existing CDKey for Windows 7 that came on this system or is that impossible?

    Thanks.

If the Windows 7 Home Premium key is VQB3X-Q3KP8-WJ2H8-R6B6D-7QJB7 or 38JTJ-VBPFW-XFQDR-PJ794-8447M then the answer will be no. These keys are volume license keys (VLK aka OEM SLP) and have security measures to prevent people from installing them on clean versions of Windows 7. Mainly, to stop piracy.

You cannot simply use these keys on a clean install of Windows 7. The key will be invalid during setup of the clean install or it simply won't activate Windows 7.
