Hello I have Acer Aspire 5920G notebook.
I installed the latest chipset drivers from Inter I found them on date 31/1/2008 http://www.laptopvideo2go.com. I restarted windows everything was normal until i went to device manager to check the version. The version actually was 8.3.0.1005 date 2007! Well i thought that nothing happened and just vista ignored the installation.I went to acer and downloaded another version of intel chipset drivers 8.3.0.1010 (old drivers but newer than the ones i had since they were not working- or just i thought so). Everything went fine but again the same happened and my system downgraded to 8.0.2.1010 ! So I installed the ones i originally downloaded. Everything is fine my system is stable but still i cant find why i cant have the right version is this intel's or vista fault?

i'd go straight to the source... www.intel.com
search "GM965 chipset drivers" they will have the most current there...
i just DL and installed them 2 hrs ago,, but already deleted the source files and can't recall what the version# or release date was... -
i found them here:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=17708
they are compatible as the read me file says with GM965 chipset
Intel has released on their site these:

What they do mean with Graphics media accelarator driver? -
not applicable to the 5920... unless it has the INTEL X3100 graphics chip...
Graphics media accelarator driver is intel's fancy way of saying "X3100 GPU device driver" -
Thanks bigzone!
So I guess i installed them incorrectly.( Even though I did whatever the read me file told me to do...)
Is there any other way to install them instead of using the application file (.exe) ? -

Hi.
I have been triying to update the chipset drivers on my intel chipset board, but when i run the install program, it runs but it does not update any drivers.
the driver are dated 2006 and the new are 2007
you can extract the drivers from the EXE file to a directory
And then use the have disk method in device manger for each and every driver.
I know it`s a pain, and it should be automatic

Hey John! Do you have metro over there or they are still repairing the railines? ( I suspect you leave next to Newcastle)...
I think the same happens to me when I install them.
Now the latest drivers for this chipset is the one I am mentioning released on 31 jan 2008. And how you install yours with the have disk mode? Cause I am a bit confused and I know the proccess but I dont know in which devices to apply them. I see Intel Express PCI Root Port, Intel Express Proccessor to DRAM Controller. And these two seem like being the Chipset??? -

Hi.
download "driver detective"
run it and it will show you which drivers to upgrade, manualy, it`s not free to upgrade the drivers automatically.
I just tried all the items in the system devices, and the IDE/SATA controllers as well, + the USB directory.
Just use "update driver software" in device manger and point it to the directory where you extracted the drivers too.
keep running "driver detective" to see how the upgrade is going.
METRO : my house back onto the metro lines, I live approx 6 miles from newcastle, on the south side of the river tyne. -
Coool ! Thanks!
ps I leave in Jesmond thats why I figured out that you leave in Newcastle.. -
No hope for me I am guessing I will leave it as it is....
Tried the program but it was a bit confusing nevermind thanks for the help!!!
