After my laptop froze a couple of days ago, and I had to do a "hard reboot" my Intel Wifi Link 5100 card refuses to power on through the pushing of the button to the left. All the other buttons work, eg. internetbrowser-button.
The card is shown in IWCONFIG, but the switch to power it on does not work. Nor will it list any networks with IWLIST.
I am currently using a network cabel...
Please help!Thanks in advance!

Your card might be disabled for unknown reasons. Can you check that?
Go Control Panel > Device Manager > and look in the network adapters, is your Intel Wifi Link 5100 card there? If it is, is there any symbol like a circle with an arrow pointing downwards? If yes, that will mean it is disabled so right click on the card and enable it.
Let us know how it went -
The device is both activated and according to status "working correctly"...
Isn't there a way to enable the wireless manually other than pressing the shortcut button on the left side of the keyboard? It's just that button that "died" because as I said, all others are still working.
Connecting through a cable also works, which is what I'm forced to do atm.
Edit: I'm also wondering if there's a way to configure those buttons; might be that it deactivated itself for some odd reason :S
Any help is greatly appreciated, cheers... -
The other way to enable the wireless is by going Control Panel > Netw and Shar Centre > Manage Network Connections > and then enable the wireless network connection. This is the same thing you did with the device manager.
Another thing you can do is by going Control panel > administrator tools > Services > and scroll down for the WLAN Autoconfig. I have set it at 'Automatic' and 'Started' by double clicking and select in startup type Automatic and then in service status underneath press Start. This is to enable the Windows Vista Wireless Configuration instead of using third parties applications. I found Vista's configuration less complicated. At the same time I have disabled all the Intel's ProSet Wireless services by going the same route as I did for the WLAN Autoconfig
Try that it might work. -
I took my comp back to where I bought it and the guy helped me with several updates after which my wireless started to work again. Just thought I'd let you know
Thnx for the help though nklive!
