Hi Acer experts. I'm looking for a laptop for my creative work (mainly Photoshop CS2 & casual Maya8.5 3D modeling) in reasonable price, then Acer 5920G with T7300&GF8600M came into attention. Unfortunately I haven't got any retailer showroom stocks 5920G near me, so I'm wondering maybe you guys could give me an idea of how good (or bad?) the 5920G is for the kind of tasks.

I'm particularly interested in hearing about it's screen capability.

    Cheers. :)

Definitely not good enough, if you care about screen resolution and quality , get a business laptop with higher resolution LCD such as Thinkpad T61p or Dell LAtitude D630.

The Acer is a good laptop on paper but not in real life use.

Get a Lenovo, Dell, ASUS or HP.

I think all of them have higher resolution option, the Thinkpad T61P , Dell Latitude D630, ASUS F8SV or SN, Dell Vostro 1400 or Dell XPS M1530.

I am personally not a big fan of Inspirons but love the LAtitude D630 and Vostro1400.

OP clearly want to get a high resolution LCD which Acer does not offer to any one, even to you.

So OP needs a Thinkpad or Latitude.

I own this laptop, and i mostly use it for graphics work, which include photoshoping, animation and 3D, I find the screen fine for everything and the colours on this screen is absolutly gorgegous.

I'm not sure how high you want your screen resolution to be but i find i always need to zoom in cos the resolution is high enuff to make the graphics too small to see already.
So really i would say if u need a higher resolution then go for another laptop if price is no problem, otherwise its fine for graphics work in my opinion.
But I also have a big desktop screen if i need higher res, but rarely do I use the desktop just cos its got higher res.

Had this laptop for nearly a year now and still loving it!

I've taken it around when i meet up with friends for projects etc and they all are amazed on how nice this laptop is for graphics.

I do a quite a lot of photoshop work and video editing work and I recently compared 3 laptop screens (XPS, 5920G, FZ):

5920g wasn't great at anything resolution, screen quality and brightness. It wasn't bright enough during a day sitting next to window and white didin't look white, more like beige. Resolution is more of subjective topic, but WXGA+ would've been better. I had laptop for 7 months.

With Sony FZ and appreciate extra brightness the screen has and colors are more eye popping then Acer's. As a matter of fact it's too bright and I have to keep it at medium settings even during a day.

Finally, I got to play with Dell and the LG WXGA+ screen was absolutely gorgeous. It wasn't as bright as Sony, but colors looked more natural and whites looked white. It's too bad that the rest of the notebook was lacking...

i am a designer (wow..) and i always use 2 monitors, havent bought the second one to connect to my 5920G yet, but what ive seen so far is pretty much enough for web design, so unless you are doing some precise graphic design stuff and need to calibrate your monitor colours etc. it should be ok.

My second monitor will be chosen very carefully though ;)

Thank you to all of you! Now I have more clear idea. I'll search on the web to look at deals and availability then make my final decision. I actually ordered HP, but they kept me waiting for a month, so i canceled it to look for another.
