IT seems that for their specs the price they ask for is reasonable, but i am biased towards them cause the last ACER i bought raised high temperatures and made lot of fan noise, and i grew to hate them. But i cant shake off the fact of their reasonable price.

As far as electronics go, i've learned that once you encounter a bad Manufacturer, he'll always not exceed your standards. But i need your output on this matter.

So Is ACER a good notebook manufacturer?

    In my opinion - yes.

Keep in mind that Acer laptops have changed during the last 2 years, got better design and improved built quality for the same lower prices. Lots of people have problems with dealing with Acer Support though so this one is still on the con list.

I can't generalize about everything Acer manufactures, but the Travelmate series they used to make and still found in stores is pretty bad; they run at high temperatures (display models simply idling feel uncomfortably hot) and their keyboards bounce like trampolines. On the upside, they are very cheap and offer fairly good specs.

In my opinion, you should look for a laptop by model, not by manufacturer.

I have both an Acer 5044wlmi and an Acer one and have had greta luck with both.
As Bog says look by model number beacuse every manufacturer produces the odd "dog".
Treat them reasonably and they will treat you well in return.

Acer has really improved in the past few years - the Aspire Gemstone was a turning point in build quality and design.
But with any notebook manufacturer, there may be a few lemons, as well as a few super-performers. Read reviews, do the research, then purchase wisely.

And if you go for an Acer, be sure to swing back here - we're an exceptionally helpful bunch. :)

My 5920 gets abused as it is used by more than myself, and it is still beating, can't grumble with the quality, hopefully have loads of use left yet.

Second Acer here (5920G), the first one was 5315 and its still up and running in my cousin's hands and she treated it pretty hard :) Pretty satisfied, especially with the price for which I'd bought them :) The build quality is not outstanding, but it's OK.

First Acer here. Build quality in reasonably good, the keyboard bounces but the specs for the money are awesome! Internal design seems good to me, since I can upgrade everything very easy. (cpu, gpu, ram, wifi, hdd)

My first Acer is the one I have and I am more than pleased with this laptop. I love it to bits. I love its retro beige colour, it reminds me the Amiga 500 and Atari ST era. The build quality is an excellent one for the price (£800) I paid 1.7 years ago. Even though I had to overclock my graphic card, I still play games medium high settings full resolution. I am still in love with the keyboard, it is the best I have ever tried (I hate the new Sony and Apple, Scrabble style keyboards) but I am not impressed with its touchpad. I have to say that they have improved dramatically and all the Gemstone series are my favorite of the Acer laptop's line. Many of my friends are amazed now with the quality/price ratio that 3 friends of mine have Acer Gemstone laptop (5930G, 6930G and 6920G) and my wife as well (2920, which looks exactly like mine only it is a cute 12.1''). I am doing upgrades though but if I have to buy a laptop, my next one will be an Acer Gemstone (if they are still around).

Both of my computers are by Acer (Gateway is made by them), and I have to say they are by far they are standard in my mind of where the price/performance ratio should be. Pretty much its such a big bang for your buck :)

Yes it is. And I'm quite very satisfied with my 6935G! No serious problem since got it. Nice med, attractive design, strong keyboard. Anyway the others models as 493x, 553x seem also well made.

Acer has today very well built Laptops ;)

I have this Aspire5610z since July2007 and I am more than happy with it, it is solid, beautiful and meets my needs perfectly. I haven't had any problems with it so there wasn't any need for customer service support. I have upgraded the memory from 1GB to 2GB and have done a Factory recovery once.

Well , I am on the other side .... one laptop and good enough .

Yes, the Travelmate 2414 , gave me all that i need , but lets not be fooled ,
The Intel based solutions , was always clear from technical issues.

I had the above in mind , even before getting it ...

Bottom line , Acer did a well designed laptop, with healthy materials.
Intel based CPU & board + Samsung screen + well made package .

My answer is whether, i am a Computer Collector i used a lot of Acer machines old and news, and never had problems, Acer has a very good product quality, the second or third in worldwide sales brand.

See the quality of notebook is inside... is the same components used in HP or Sony , IBM , examble WIficard.. Videocard,Lan card, sound card...
Are the same in other brands , but the real thing is the manufacture quality.

    Acer is a great brand.

My 5684 WLMi is still going strong after close to three years and zero problems at all.

Yes, the battery is shot now. But with the use it's had, it's hardly surprising and expected.

Other than that, all is well and I am in for another Acer when this one (eventually) gives up the ghost one day.

So I vote Acer is a Good Laptop Manufacturer.

I don't think their computer are well made, and as for their customer service, well lets just say it doesn't exist.

Their computer is just like any other except cheaper.
Service leaves much to be desired.
