While I have been patiently waiting for the envy 13/15 series I stumbled upon some cheaper solutions to my school work needs. I have been looking a lot into the timeline series particularly the 3810t model but found a local seller with the 3935 model. From what I gather these two models are very similar with a few pros and cons going both ways. Asking price is $780 and it is very tempting seeing as this is to me one of the finest looking Acer models, so my question is should I keep waiting or look further into the 3810t or is this model still a solid option to go with?

For those of you who are not sure which model this is:

    3810t:
    Better Battery
    2.5 HDD's
More popular easier to find parts
    Cheaper
    HDMI

    3935:
    Better Processor
    Not under recall
    Cd drive
    Aluminum

    Forgetting anything important?

I hate laptop with no dedicated GPU. >.<
It only have 3GB RAM even it is DDR3(I think is due to GM45 chipset).
    It CPU processor is good.
    HDD 250GB is OK.
The other stuffs are OK too.
    USD 1000?
Not worth if 1000 USD, this is my opinion.

Well I would be getting the 3935 for 780 with 4gb ram if that makes any difference

My main concern is the recall of the 3810 series, did not think much of it until Newegg pulled all their 3810 models

mm i suggest not to buy this. DarkSilver is right, do not EVER buy a laptop that has no dedicated graphics. I made this mistake :( (see my specs in sig) even if you have to pay a bit more, it will be more than worth it. and if you're extremely patient, go for mainstream graphics (Geforce x6xx and above or Radeon HDx6xx and above. the 2nd number is performance)

Thats not the best statement. If he doesn't need it for gaming and if he's not planning to make movies or something like that then he is fine without a dedicated gpu. Just because you 'want' it doesnt mean you need it. I have the 3935 and absolutely love it. I am surprised that the OP found one as they are tough to find. The 4500MHD in there gets through anything of interest that I throw at it.

Personally the 3935 is way better than the timeline in terms of build quality. For the price the 3935 is the way to go.

I'd ask him to bring it down to about ~$725 and see what he says, either way I think its a pretty good deal.

I'm looking to sell mine as well but not sure where to do that at yet or what price.
