Hi all.
Just wondering if it is possible to replace the GPU chip in my Acer Aspire 7720G-302G32Hi Laptop?
Would like to know if it possible.
And also, where can i find a unlocked BIOS for it?
So i can change clock speeds etc.

i was just wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the GPU.?!
-
have you maxed out the video ?
wil have to do some hunting about for you -
here's all the benchmarks for all the nvida graphics cards
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html -
looks like you could upgrade big time, you lucky fellow lol
8600M GS is a nice jump up in the world. was just looking at all the bench marks, nice upgrade but lets see how far we can go. -
Do you know what i can upgrade to?
Not that an 8600M GS isnt a good jump, if poss, a 8800M? hehe
Do you know the mxm type? I dont want to open it up yet!
Where can i get me one from? -
or maybe a 8600M GT?
-
NO you CANNOT upgrade the video card, it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE.
For lack of a more detailed explanation:
1. There are 2 models, one with 8400, on with HD2600, who knows if they are interchangeable.
2. It hasn't been reported of being MXM compatible.
Don't get your hopes up.
Also, an upgrade from a 8400GS to a 8600GS/GT that is MXM is extremely difficult to find, and costs around $400-500. -
I don’t know from where xtyfyb has such info. I just upgraded couple weeks ago my 8400gs to 8600m gt. Second things if you looking good thru ebay you can find 8600m gt for around $100+sh. The mxm is type II.
Is it possible to upgrade the GPU in a 7720G?
