I have owned my Acer 5672 Aspire for over a year. One day I went to check my mail, I let it load and went to the bathroom. When I came back the whole screen was frozen. I could not move my mouse. I could not get task manager. I had to hold the power button down, to turn it off. When I turned it on all I get is a black screen as if it were off. I do not get the Acer load up screen, meaning I cannot get into the BIOS. Pretty much its a brick. I also noticed that the fan would run, then it would just stop, while it is on. I am out of warranty so I am forseeing a third party repair, is there any chance that I can get it repaired??

The lights on the power butten are on. On the front I have two green lights. One for ac power, and the one for the pc on. Like I said, it is just a black screen, as if it were not on.

I had something similar happen to my laptop. I am not sure exactly what went wrong, but something similar happened. Powered it off normally, and then it refused to start up. Complete black screen of death. Although I think it was running through startup procedures. I would have wagered that my video card was dead, since connecting an external monitor still didn't display a picture.

I would try to connect an external monitor to yours and see if anything happens. The way mine got fixed was an RMA, since it was brand new. But an external monitor would rule out the LCD screen. Also try to see if it is running through startup, but you just can't see anything. Like if you have boot from CD, put a CD in there, and see if it spins up. Or if windows makes the startup sound.

A bit silly, but make sure you didn't accidentally press CTRL+F6. I did a while back and the laptop appeared ok, but I couldn't get the screen to work. Moving mouse, resetting, nothing helped.....until I moved my finger on the touchpad and the LCD came back to life.

Freaked me out the first time it happened, but now I love the feature and often press CTRL+F6 to turn off the LCD backlight instead of closing the lid. I doubt this is your problem, but worth a try.

Hi guys, my problem is very much similar to the first thread "is my acer aspire 5672 dead?" I've owned my 5672 aspire for now exactly 2 years, and yesterday while i was using it like a normal day surfing the web and listening to music, the screen just froze for like a minute...so tried to get the task manager but nothing happened, couldn't move the cursor or anything it was simply frozen....so decided to power it down holding down the power button.
Left it for a minute then tried to turn it on....after 3/4 seconds it would turn itself off, the screen is completely blank nothing appears....and also my warranty is finished (typical)....how did you guys manage to fix it?

i think he just waited abit and tried it later on in the day!!!

he may have also removed the RAM MEMORY from the motherboard and re-inserted it!
