I recently got a brand new 9-cell battery for my Aspire One, and it has been great until now. I left my laptop in sleep mode with about 60% charge remaining, and in the morning my laptop would not start. When I clicked the power button the orange light just flashed. So I took it home, left it on the charger all night (had a green light), and now it won't start again. I plugged it in, and Windows and BatteryBar are both showing 0% charge remaining. If I remove the AC plug it will stay on for a couple minutes then die again. Is my battery just completely dead?

Sounds like it.. get it replaced, most batteries have at least 3-6 months warranty.

Sounds like the battery has gone in to latency, i.e. the charge in the battery is negative. Try leaving it on charge for a couple of days or what I do is give it a higher dose of voltage (VERY UNSAFE).
Otherwise just get it replaced. -
Seems unlikely that one night in sleep mode would kill the battery outright unless the battery or charge circuit is at fault. However battery care is a bit of an art and can depend on the type of battery. It really is worth reading up on this. In your case there may be a bios fix as the aspire one has had charge issues in some cases and at least one bios fix has been made. Check your bios version and have a look to see if it might have been fixed, then decide if ou want to risk a bios update.
As the battery sounds new, you could get a replacement? -
I have a 90-day warranty, so I guess I will get it replaced. It really bothers me that this happened, though. Especially after it was working so well.
Is my battery dead?
