    Hi

I own an acer 8930 and up until now it has served me very well. Recentley however I've experienced some very disturbing crashes.

Sometimes my screen freezes and it goes black and I need to restart via the powerbutton (long press)
Yesterday the same happend but the screen turned blue. A few minutes ago it happend again but the screen turned flashy green.

This morning when I turned it on the screen was al pixel like, I could see my browser but the entire picture was made out of big squares.
In all cases when it crashed games would keep playing, music and video's too so it's only the screen that crashes
Anyone have an idea what's going on? :s

    Thank you in advance

It looks like a GPU issue but it may be also OS or screen related.
Reinstall Windows to make sure that it's not the root of the problem.
Take note of the GPU temperature- it's possible that the thermal paste has been "baked" and GPU may be overheating. If GPU temps are OK it can be ruled out.
Check if any of this problems occur on an external monitor- if all you can see is a green screen on your LCD but after you've connected the external screen everything can be seen on it- it's LCD related.

Last but not least- your GPU may be dying. Good news is that your notebook uses an MXM module so you can replace it (see here)
