I hook my laptop to my HDTV to stream Hulu and to al;so play music. It is also hooked to my stereo.

I sit it on one of my stereo floor speaker is this safe? I don't want to damage my laptop. I have a 500gb hd which I have all my music on my laptop as well.

HDDs today have alot of of shielding to protect them from external magnets and mag fields. You would need a very strong magnet kept right over a bare HDD to screw it up. Your usual fridge and speaker magnets won't do anything. And Mobile HDDs have twice as much shielding as compared to Desktop HDDs -.-

Well, we don't know the size of his speaker, he might have his laptop on a 1 meter tall speaker.. ;)

And even though the hdds are shielded and everything I still won't hold a laptop on a speaker.
